Personalised Yangarra Estate Vineyard Blanc 2021 13% 750ml
The Grenache Blanc and Roussanne were hand-picked, whole bunch pressed and fermented separately. The Picpoul, Clairette and Bourboulenc were picked together, as their ripeness was very similar, and volumes were small. These varieties are supposedly very susceptibile to oxidation, but better results are achieved by not adding sulphur until the completion of primary sugar fermentation. The resulting wine was then matured in those same vessels on lees and stirred monthly for 4 months.
Expert Review:
James Suckling - 92 points, Fresh and attractive fruit, in the pear and apple spectrum, with some light, pastry-like notes, too. The palate delivers a smooth, crisp impression with a gently chalky finish. I like the restraint here. A blend of 49% grenache blanc, 18% picpoul, 15% Claudette, 13% roussanne and 5% bourboulenc. Drink now.
Yangarra Estate is a biodynamic wine farm in the McLaren Vale region in South Australia. The Yangarra philosophy centres around producing wines solely from its single-vineyard estate and the property is devoted to the best grape varieties of the southern Rhone. Yangarra's combination of rare geologies, moderate altitude, abundant sunshine and cool evening breezes make it perfect for growing varieties that thrive in these moderate maritime environments.
