Personalised Mountadam Eden Valley Shiraz 2018 14% 750ml
Expert Review:
James Halliday- 92 points, Mountadam High Eden vineyard at 550m altitude. Aged 18 months in 40% new French oak barriques. Mountadam clearly distinguishes its 3 tiers, with its estate level offering impressive detail, refinement and affordability. The signature of this cool, high site is articulated impeccably here, a beautiful expression of red fruits and pepper with the gentle support of dark chocolate oak. Bright, natural acidity and fine-grained tannins are impressively composed, balanced from the outset, yet will endure. Tyson Stelzer
Established in 1972 as one of Australia's pioneer Chardonnay producers, Mountadam was founded by the late David Wynn, without question one of the most significant contributors to the Australian wine industry and an important part of the Mountadam story. In selecting the land for the Mountadam vineyard, Wynn was the first to recognise the potential of a cool, elevated site to produce wines of great elegance and structure, and chose an area high above the Eden Valley, which he named High Eden. At 570 metres above sea level, Mountadam is still to this day one of Australia's most elevated vineyards. As of 2005, the vineyard has been owned by South Australian businessman David Brown, who has made significant investment in vineyard improvement and expansion.
