Personalised Heathcote Estate Pressings Shiraz 2016 13.5% 750

This is the inaugral release of the 'Shiraz Pressings'. A wine for the long term, the Shiraz Pressings is a firmly structured wine with savoury tannins, and yet incredible perfume and sense of elegance. A wonderfully concentrated and structured, big and bold drop.

Expert Review:
James Halliday- 93 Points, Taking the pressings (the last litres of juice from the press when the skins are almost dry) from Blocks B, C and F, comprising 33/33/34% respectively, have created a concentrated, very savoury wine, and one I pondered over for quite some time. Tom Carson's inspiration was no surprise: Wendouree, '89 specifically. Stunning dark crimson; it's largely defined by resolute tannins, which are a little drying on the finish but buoyed by wafts of menthol, wood spices and tobacco. It needs more time and definitely to be savoured with food. (Jane Faulkner).

The Heathcote region has had a rich and prosperous place in the history of Australia. During the 1850's, Heathcote was the scene of fevered activity as an important gold field town and today Heathcote is best known for producing another rich and prized gem - Heathcote Shiraz. Heathcote Estate was planted in 1999 on the ancient Cambrian soils that define the heart of the region. The 500-million-year-old soils are integral to the distinctive characters in these special wines. The Kirby family established Heathcote Estate with the sole objective to make one wine - a single vineyard shiraz. And over the past decade, the label has forged a reputation for wines of exceptional character and longevity. Led by winemaker Tom Carson, the philosophy is to craft wines that speak of the distinct characteristics of Heathcote and more particularly, this unique site. Heathcote Estate was established exclusively for the production of one wine a single vineyard Shiraz.
