Personalised Rising Bad Earth Aromatic Dry White 2020 12% 750ml
Expert Review:
Mike Bennie- 88points, It’s that musk clone chardonnay with gewurztraminer blended in. Yarra Valley hometown for both. Something different. Love how the wine name tells you what’s up. Fragrant white with jasmine and frangipani floral scents woven through tangerine, lychee and green apple. Flavours are in that zone too, a little floral, some slickness to texture in lychee and apple juice meshed, but the finish honours the promise of the wine name, tingly, tart and eventually talc-like powdery dry. It’s an interesting, frisky, fresh white built around kinda simple fruit character, but delivers a great, easy drinking experience.
From the rolling elevations at the Rising Vineyard in the Christmas Hills, winemaker Anthony Fikkers crafts wines that express both the power and grace of this unique part of the Yarra Valley. Sourcing small premium parcels of fruit from emerging varietals in the vineyard, Anthony's aim is to produce wines of beauty and clarity that are surprising yet authentic. Free and unrestricted in his winemaking approach and with a philosophy of minimal intervention, each wine is allowed to express fully its origins.
Variety: Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Semillion, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc
