Personalised Mountadam Pinot Noir Chardonnay NV 13% 750ml
Expert Review:
James Halliday- 93 points, 52% pinot, 48% chardonnay. A solid fizz, with ample toasty detail buffering the sleek, high acid rims. A deft touch of oak, too. Highly refreshing and more an apero than a wine to cover all bases at the table. Granny smith apple and nashi pear, with a beautifully balanced dosed dryness, promoting an aura of juicy freshness.
Established in 1972 as one of Australia's pioneer Chardonnay producers, Mountadam was founded by the late David Wynn, without question one of the most significant contributors to the Australian wine industry and an important part of the Mountadam story. In selecting the land for the Mountadam vineyard, Wynn was the first to recognise the potential of a cool, elevated site to produce wines of great elegance and structure, and chose an area high above the Eden Valley, which he named High Eden. At 570 metres above sea level, Mountadam is still to this day one of Australia's most elevated vineyards. As of 2005, the vineyard has been owned by South Australian businessman David Brown, who has made significant investment in vineyard improvement and expansion.
