Personalised All Saints Durif 2018 14% 750 ml
The local hero of Rutherglen.Durif is perfectly suited to the region's long, dry, mild climate, allowing for intense, rich fruit flavour development. This premium red is full of classic spice, black pepper, plum and mulberry. It's dense full flavour, rich, smooth tannins and elegant oak make it a perfect partner for hearty winter dishes. Try it with rich beef fillets, lamb stews, steak and kidney pie or strongly flavoured cheeses. This is a great wine to cellar if you have the patience. Give it 5-8 years, but make sure you decant before serving as it will throw some sediment.
Expert Reviews:James Halliday-95 Points. Destemmed fruit crushed into 7t vats for inoculated fermentation. Hand plunged 3 times a day, basket pressed then matured 22 months in 1-4yo French oak barriques. All Saints Estate sees the beauty and elegance in the durif grape - yes, it most definitely exists - and produces a style that can overcome any varietal prejudice. With forest-floor notes, wild berries, violets, top spice nuances and vanilla, it's an arresting introduction. Smooth palate, yet retains the grape's robust nature and power. Sensitive handling and winemaking on show. Jeni Port. James Halliday Wine Companion 2022, 13 August, 2021
